Field Service Engineer – Ground Support Equipment – Remote/UK-based role, travelling to customer sites across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This is a customer-facing, hands-on role that combines technical expertise with travel and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.

The position is home-based and can be located anywhere in the UK.

Role Overview

As a Field Service Engineer, you will provide best-in-class support for ground support equipment, delivering commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and training to end users. You will act as a trusted technical partner, ensuring customers receive high-quality service and solutions that keep their operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to commission new equipment, carry out warranty and repair work, deliver training, and complete service upgrades.
  • Provide telephone troubleshooting and technical support to customers.
  • Identify additional service opportunities such as parts kits, inspections, refurbishments, or training.
  • Document all work thoroughly, including service reports, defect records, and expense submissions.
  • Liaise with internal engineering teams, vendors, and regional service offices to resolve technical issues.
  • Contribute to the development of service procedures, work aids, and training materials.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Technical, vocational, or military training in an electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience with electrical/mechanical/hydraulic systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport, with the ability to travel extensively (sometimes at short notice).
  • Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve design or operational discrepancies.
  • Confident in using relevant tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting/handling devices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good English skills; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Experience in the aviation ground support or related equipment sectors.
  • Strong safety awareness and willingness to challenge unsafe practices.
