Field Service Engineer (covering the Midlands)

Location: Leicester. Role: Field Service Engineer. Location note: covering all of the Midlands, you'll be allocated to the Aldridge Service Centre.

Hours: 45 hours per week | 08:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday. A 40-hour per week option is available.

Salary: £43,992 to £46,800 pa DOE (based on 45hpw).

Are you a skilled technician with a passion for problem-solving and delivering exceptional service? We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our Aftermarket team!

This is a mobile role where you'll be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining specialist vehicles at customer sites and company workshops. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment
  • Carry out servicing and maintenance to a high standard
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with Department Of Transport specifications
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues
  • Log all work using PDA software and maintain accurate service records
  • Travel to customer sites across the UK, sometimes at short notice
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
  • Communicate clearly with customers and provide excellent service
  • Support health and safety practices and complete risk assessments as required

Ideal Candidate

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance
  • Previous experience in a similar role (Field Service, HGV Mechanic, Workshop Engineer)
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of vehicle technology systems and compliance standards
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexible with working hours and willing to travel
  • General computer literacy and ability to complete technical documentation
  • Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus
