OverviewThe Field Service Engineer plays a key role in supporting our customers' installed instrumentation base across the UK. This hands-on role is essential to ensuring high customer satisfaction through expert service, maintenance, and commissioning of Emerson instrumentation. The desired candidate is technically proficient, adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences across a variety of industries—including water and gas utilities, food & beverage, chemicals, and offshore platforms. For professionals who excel in fast-paced environments and relish tackling sophisticated technical challenges, this opportunity is for you!ResponsibilitiesPerform on-site installation, commissioning, fault analysis, and repairs on Emerson instrumentation.Investigate and resolve persistent or sophisticated issues at customer sites.Commission clamp-on liquid and gas flowmeters at client sites ranging from utilities and industrial plants to offshore platforms.Provide diagnostic, calibration, and startup services.Deliver on-site customer training as required.Assist Sales Engineers with product demonstrations and provide application and post-sales support.Proactively identify service and product opportunities, contributing to lead generation.Finish the service documentation, which includes reports and certificates.Support the creation of service-related sales materials.Provide telephone-based client support as needed.Travel flexibly throughout the UK, offshore, and internationally; availability for occasional weekend and out-of-hours work is encouraged.Who You AreYou are a technically skilled and customer-focused engineer who thrives in field-based roles. You are organized, resourceful, and able to work independently in fast-paced environments. Your strong communication skills and problem-solving approach enable you to build trust with clients while providing timely and efficient service.HNC or equivalent qualification in an Engineering field (e.g., Electronics, Control Engineering, Computer Science).Proven experience in instrumentation, commissioning, or maintenance within a process control environment.Strong understanding of C&I (Control & Instrumentation) theory, including control loop tuning.Full UK driving license and willingness to travel.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in IT systems and tools used in technical service.Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively.Great teammate attitude with a proactive approach.Understanding of B2B service models and contract value.Preferred Qualifications That Set You ApartPrior experience servicing Emerson or competitor instrumentation products.Knowledge of Emerson's fixed installation clamp-on flowmeters.Demonstrated success in identifying service contract opportunities.Offshore or international service experience.Familiarity with UK utilities, chemical, or oil & gas industries.Why EmersonAt Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
