6 months (Market Rate inside IR35) Our client, a leading global organisation, is seeking a
Foundation Brakes Engineer
to join an established automotive programme in the Midlands. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering brake system solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring projects meet cost, quality, and timing objectives. In this position, you will act as the
primary interface between the Brakes System (Foundation Brakes) Vehicle Programme team and Manufacturing programme teams . Youll coordinate key stakeholders across engineering, purchasing, finance, and manufacturing to ensure smooth programme delivery. Your responsibilities will include: Coordinating programme activities to ensure delivery of foundation brakes targets. Supporting programme management meetings and providing accurate programme metrics. Integrating cross-functional requirements into the commodity delivery plan (CCDS). Planning prototype builds with build facilities to deliver customer test properties. Managing risks, opportunities, and issue resolution using structured problem-solving techniques. Presenting complex technical data clearly to varied audiences. Essential Skills & Experience Proven experience in
automotive brakes design & development
for OEMs or Tier 1/2 suppliers. Strong understanding of
vehicle brakes systems, mechanical systems, and components . Proficient in
3D CAD (Catia V6, 3DX)
and skilled in interpreting/manufacturing 2D drawings. Knowledge of
manufacturing techniques and design optimisation . Experience with
component, system, and vehicle-level verification methods . Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience in
project management / agile methodologies . Ability to manage risks, lead issue resolution, and deliver within complex project teams. Desirable Skills & Experience Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. Familiarity with
JIRA
and Agile/Scrum ways of working. Experience supporting manufacturing and launch phases. Strong collaboration, negotiation, and adaptability skills.
