Overview

Oliver Bernard have partnered with a specialist engineering consultancy that’s expanding its digital product team to support large-scale, environmentally focused projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a small, collaborative team building modern, web-based tools that directly contribute to real-world impact in the sustainability and energy space. They’re looking for a Front-End Engineer with a strong design sensibility — someone who can take design direction and extend it into production-ready UI components, working closely with designers and engineers to deliver clean, elegant web applications. Central London (Hybrid working, 2 days per week in-office).

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, engineers, and product managers to develop intuitive and accessible user experiences.
  • Translate high-level design concepts into responsive, interactive front-end components using modern frameworks.
  • Build secure, scalable applications with TypeScript, React/Next.js, and CSS.
  • Support CI/CD workflows and contribute to the ongoing improvement of DevOps pipelines for front-end deployment.
  • Maintain and extend front-end testing with tools like Jest and Cypress.
  • Stay informed of front-end trends and contribute to technical discussions and prototyping.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience building and designing web applications with a strong technical portfolio.
  • Proficiency with React and TypeScript.
  • Solid CSS skills, including responsive design and accessibility best practices.
  • Familiarity with Docker, reverse proxies, and deployment workflows.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity practices and secure coding.
  • Knowledge of authentication standards such as OAuth2.0 and OpenID Connect.
  • Experience in frontend testing and TDD.

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Enjoy blending visual design with engineering — translating design systems into robust front-end code.
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment and communicate well with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Have a background or interest in engineering, energy, or environmental technologies (a bonus, not a requirement).

Why Apply?

This is a great chance to join a mission-aligned, technically forward-thinking organisation. You’ll work on meaningful products in a domain that’s contributing to long-term environmental impact — all while using a modern tech stack in a flexible, supportive team based in Central London.
