Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior AI Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. You will be instrumental in the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of advanced, production-grade AI and Machine Learning systems that are central to our product strategy.
This is a hands-on technical role for a "doer" who thrives on solving complex, real-world problems with cutting-edge AI. You will be given significant autonomy to drive projects from concept to deployment, working with a small, agile team of specialists to deliver high-impact features.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of scalable AI/ML systems, including LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
- Design and optimise robust Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and vector databases to power our AI features.
- Develop, fine-tune, and benchmark large language models (LLMs) and other deep learning models for specific use cases.
- Spearhead the design and development of API and backend services to integrate AI capabilities into our core platform.
- Create and maintain production-grade MLOps pipelines to ensure reliable deployment, monitoring, and scaling of machine learning models.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and domain experts, to define requirements and translate business challenges into technical AI solutions.
Qualifications
- Experience: Extensive commercial experience as a Senior AI/ML or Backend Engineer, with a proven track record of shipping production-level AI features.
- Expertise: Proficiency in Python and modern API development (e.g., FastAPI, Flask).
- Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Proficiency with AI orchestration tools and libraries like LangChain, Haystack, or LlamaIndex.
- Deep understanding of MLOps, including containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Platform Knowledge: Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for AI model deployment and management.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, proactive, with the ability to take ownership and deliver results in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.
