Senior Software Developer – GIS / Geospatial – Java / Python or JavaScript

Engagement

Duration: Initially 6 months (project scope for 12-24 months).
Rate: £(Apply online only) per day, Outside IR35.
Location: Fully Remote (UK based).

Responsibilities

• Lead front- and back-end development for a geospatial project.
• Join a project team working on Geospatial data transformation for a high-profile Government program; must have Geospatial experience using Postgres/PostGIS.
• Work across Java, Javascript, Python, CSS, Docker, and cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) or demonstrate sufficient knowledge to adopt quickly.
• Ability to pick up existing codebases, improve/amend them, and develop and implement new features.
• Turn designs into new front-end applications and apply design changes to existing applications.
• Be adaptable and identify how your role can support other areas of the team.

Technical Expertise

• Programming Proficiency: Advanced full-stack skills, ideally using Java and Javascript or Python, with experience building production-grade applications.
• Cloud Architecture: Understanding of cloud-native architectures, particularly AWS or Azure environments.
• Hands-on experience developing and debugging CI/CD pipelines, including containerised deployment methodologies.
• Proficient with geospatial data transformations, using Postgres/PostGIS.

Professional Capabilities

• Accustomed to working in Agile and/or Kanban teams.
• Should demonstrate experience leading development teams.
• Experience working in cross-disciplinary teams and engaging with key stakeholders in a large organisation.
