Graduate Civil Engineer – 2026 Development Programme – UK Wide

This role sits within our Infrastructure operating unit, supporting our projects in various locations across the UK. Our current projects include - the A428 upgrade between the Black Cat and Caxton Gibbet roundabouts, Network Rail’s Northwest & Central framework and Anglian Water’s capital programme in Peterborough.

What you'll do:

  • Plan and set up work sections by mobilising resources and using surveying skills to accurately lay out construction details while coordinating site activities safely.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and enabling teams (Traffic Management, Utilities, Community Relations) to prepare and implement essential safety and quality documentation.
  • Identify temporary works requirements, contribute to their design alongside the temporary works team, and ensure compliance with all safety standards.
  • Maintain rigorous Quality Control and Quality Assurance records by managing Non-Conformance Reports, Early Warning Notices, and producing detailed daily diaries for assigned work areas.
  • Actively engage with the Skanska Graduate Programme for professional development towards chartered status.
  • What you'll bring to the role:

  • Final-year student or recent graduate with an ICE-accredited degree in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline).
  • Proficient at interpreting drawings, applying technical information to planning, and communicating complex details effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong interest in innovation, sustainability, and positive societal impact, demonstrated through collaborative teamwork and proactive problem-solving.
  • Enthusiastic learner dedicated to personal and professional development, with a willingness to work towards professional qualifications or chartered status. 
  • This role requires visits to sites across the UK. As such, we would expect you to have a driving licence or work towards obtaining one within your first year of working with us.
