In this role as a Graduate Electrical Design Engineer (High voltage), you will work on real-world projects from day one, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems and solutions. Whether you're passionate about power systems, control engineering, or sustainable technologies, we’ll help you grow your skills and shape your future.
Please note: This role is a direct entry into the department on a 2-year FTC basis and is not part of a graduate rotation scheme. The position is based in central Birmingham with a hybrid work model (3 days in the office). We are unable to provide visa support for this position (including student visas).
How You’ll make an impact
- Design of HV substations at High Voltage level.
- Participate in or lead design review meetings to identify errors, inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to plan the division of work.
- Create designs using CAD and other design software.
- Validate design drawings and documents provided by suppliers to ensure they meet customer specifications and internal standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure delivery meets requirements and standards.
- Share best practices with engineering colleagues across projects and disciplines.
- Opportunity to travel abroad and participate in product testing at factories.
- Plan and organize daily work with problem-solving in mind.

Your Background
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience in technical coordination with suppliers and project stakeholders in different locations.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and offices.
- Problem-solving mindset with a passion for new challenges.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Based in the UK with the right to work there.
