The Financial Management Service within the Resources and Digital group operates at the core of the Council's financial operations. The Service is focused on the optimisation and safeguarding of financial and other resources in a dynamic and challenging environment.

The Role

This job profile reflects the flexible role within the Service across Accountancy and Internal audit function. An opportunity has arisen to join our motivated and enthusiastic Finance team as a Business Partner within the Accountancy function. You will be working with Strategic Directors, Service Directors and a number of services from across the Council to ensure that they have the key financial information that they require to make decisions. This role is essential to provide strategic financial advice and support whilst working in a dynamic and challenging fast paced environment.

Your duties will include managing a small team providing professional advice and relevant, accurate and timely financial information to support the strategic financial management and planning services of the Council. The role of a Finance Business Partner requires individuals to be flexible to enable them to provide support across a varying number of services and directorates.

As a fully qualified CCAB Accountant you’ll bring extensive experience of working in a public sector environment and providing professional financial advice to a range of stakeholders. Effective communication, management and report writing experience are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a small team and provide professional financial information to support strategic financial management and planning services.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to Strategic Directors, Service Directors and services across the Council.
  • Work across multiple directorates to ensure decision makers have accurate financial information.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other services to deliver business partnering and financial insight.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified CCAB Accountant with experience in a public sector environment.
  • Experience in providing professional financial advice, effective communication, management and report writing.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: £51,356 - £54,495 pa plus 15% Recruitment and Retention Allowance (reviewed yearly).
  • Pension – Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Annual leave: 26 days + 2 fixed days (rising to 30 + 2 after 5 years), plus bank holidays.
