Our client is looking for an experienced project design engineer, preferably with strong hydraulic background to join their team.

The company offer solutions including design, manufacturing, installation of hydraulic systems, service and maintenance, technical support, and parts distribution, sub-contractors, and on-site/workshop technicians.

As Project Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and management aspect of a project from enquiry to successful completion. This is a fulfilling role, requiring a high attention to detail, responsiveness, communications, and negotiation skills.

The position will be challenging and motivating, so this will be great for an individual looking to develop the position to achieve their career goals. The scope of the design and engineering builds may include hydraulic power units, control manifolds & consoles, bespoke hydraulic systems, and pipework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare technical proposals, specifications, quotations & review calculations
  • Ensure feasibility and provide technical guidance to the customer
  • Select and size components
  • Prepare or review hydraulic schematics, bill of material & engineering drawings made by others
  • Optimize system performance and cost, making sure all problems are resolved and manufacturability and serviceability of products are improved
  • Project management & planning, checking delivered goods on projects
  • Prepare technical specification for sub-contractors and send enquiries
  • Procurement following projects technical, financial and time requirements
  • Approve subcontractors design & ensure compliance with customer requirements at all stages
  • Filling/Verifying paperwork during the job
  • Brief operational team prior to start manufacture and support operational team for technical operations
  • Control work after completion and issue the as build final documents
  • Preparation of the work file prior to start the job
  • Plan workshop/onsite work and prepare required tooling and equipment
  • Prepare the OMM Operation and Maintenance Manual
  • Provide the project KPIs for progress review
  • Keep the job on track to meet financial objectives and deadlines
  • We will consider applications from less experienced candidates or candidate with limited hydraulic background who are willing to take on training and learn.

    Essential Requirements:

  • Excellent grasp of engineering and design principles
  • Creative approach for generating new ideas
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods
  • Degree or equivalent in mechanical / electrical engineering
  • Clear communicator both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical/control system
  • Knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) software (Inventor/Solidworks, Hydrosym)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office packages including Excel and Word
  • Full driving licence
  • Preferable Requirements:

  • Project Management
  • Commissioning of hydraulic equipment
  • Hydraulic service & fault finding, system manufacture and hydraulic design experience
  • Knowledge of ISO and other international quality standards (LR, DNV, BV, NORSOK, ATEX)
