Contract Position | Wytch Farm, Dorset We are seeking an experienced
Instrument & Control Commissioning Engineer
to join a dynamic, multi-discipline team at a major onshore oil and gas facility located in Dorset. This is an
initial 12-month contract
(Monday–Friday, site-based) offering an exciting opportunity to support the safe and efficient delivery of engineering projects and upgrades across a complex legacy site. Key Responsibilities:
Deliver Instrument & Control (I&C) engineering support across the full project lifecycle, from design through to commissioning and handover.
Participate in
HAZOP and LOPA
studies as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Contribute to the development of project requirements, specifications, and control philosophies.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including: Loop sheets
Instrument data sheets
Functional design specifications
Cross-patch schedules
Control panel drawings
Functional test procedures
Lead commissioning activities, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with site standards.
Manage interfaces with third-party contractors and vendors.
Ensure all I&C work adheres to internal standards and relevant international codes.
Support the plant's change management process (e.g., Plant Modification Proposals).
Actively promote and participate in site HSE and safety culture initiatives.
Technical Scope Includes:
Instrumentation (Pressure, Temperature, Level, Flow)
Pneumatic and Hydraulic Control Systems
Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
Fire & Gas Detection Systems
Flow Measurement Technologies
Candidate Profile:
Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation).
Proven experience in instrumentation and control design and commissioning, ideally within the
oil & gas ,
energy , or
process industries .
Familiarity with: ATEX-rated equipment
(CompEx certification desirable)
Functional Safety (IEC 61511)
and safety lifecycle principles
Operational Technology cybersecurity
(beneficial but not essential)
Excellent communication skills with a proactive, collaborative approach.
Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Must hold a valid UK driving licence.
Note:
Due to the nature of the role, this is a site-based position and applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
