Job Summary
The IT Configuration Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient configuration, maintenance, and lifecycle management of all IT hardware and related assets. This role involves configuring and troubleshooting laptops, desktops, thin clients, and mobile devices to maintain optimal performance and user satisfaction. The position oversees asset and inventory management, ensuring accurate stock control, documentation, and reporting.
Key Accountabilities
Device Configuration, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
* Configure, test, and troubleshoot laptops, desktops, thin clients, and mobile devices to ensure optimal performance.
* Monitor system performance, ensuring build images are up to date and correctly deployed.
* Liaise with customers, vendors, and suppliers to resolve hardware and build image-related issues.
Asset & Inventory Management
* Maintain stock levels, conducting weekly and monthly stock checks to ensure availability and accuracy.
* Manage inventory of Configuration Items (CIs) and assets, ensuring proper tracking and documentation.
* Define, enhance, and implement best practices for asset management, improving efficiency and accuracy.
* Ensure the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is effectively managed, with up-to-date and accurate asset records.
* Provide KPI/Metric reports on stock deployment and asset utilisation.
Security & Compliance
* Manage secure disposal of devices through approved third-party suppliers, ensuring compliance with security policies.
* Adhere to all relevant IT security policies and procedures to safeguard assets and data integrity.
* Oversee the lifecycle management of hardware and software models within the CMDB, following asset management directives.
Continuous Improvement & Process Development
* Apply a continuous improvement mindset to asset management, optimising efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Identify and enhance processes related to asset and configuration management.
* Support various IT projects, providing expertise in asset management, tracking, and reporting.
About you:
* Strong knowledge of IT software and hardware experience within a service desk environment
* Proven ability and experience configuring windows devices using SCCM and Intune.
* Strong knowledge of Request fulfilment processes.
* Strong ability to carry out assigned tasks independently with little supervision
* Excellent at performing multiple tasks at the same time without erring
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong problem-solving sand trouble shooting abilities
* Ability to work on own as needed
