IT Data Engineer
Location: Home-based with regular travel to company sites
Contract: 12-month FTC
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + benefits
Reports to: Head of Transformation

We’re looking for a talented IT Data Engineer to play a key role in our enterprise-wide ERP project. This is a great opportunity
to work with a leading UK food manufacturing business, helping to shape the way we manage and utilise our data for years to come.

What you’ll be doing

Infor M3 Data Integration & Ingestion

* Extract data from legacy ERP systems and databases.
* Cleanse and validate datasets, identifying and filling gaps with the business.
* Automate ETL workflows using tools such as Azure Data Factory, Airflow, or ION Workflows.

Data Transformation & Harmonisation

* Standardise ERP data (items, customers, orders, inventory).
* Align master data across products, customers, suppliers, and locations.
* Implement business logic for UoM conversions, lead times, and reporting requirements.

Data Modelling & Storage

* Design scalable schemas and tables for Infor M3 ERP data.
* Build time-series models to track sales history, forecasts, and supply/demand flows.
* Optimise performance for analytics and planning platforms.

Analytics, Planning & Forecasting Support

* Prepare structured ERP datasets for BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Infor Birst).
* Maintain historical dataset versions for audits and scenario planning.

Quality Control & Governance

* Reconcile data against source tables and business rules.
* Implement automated monitoring, anomaly detection, and error handling.
* Ensure full data lineage and documentation from source to reporting.

What we’re looking for

Essential skills & experience:

* 5+ years in a data engineering role in a mid-to-large enterprise (FMCG/manufacturing desirable).
* Strong SQL and programming skills (Python, Spark).
* ERP integration experience (Infor ION, APIs, flat file interfaces).
* Knowledge of data quality frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, dbt tests).
* Familiarity with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
* Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code for data pipelines.
