IT Infrastructure Engineer
Hull
£50,000 - £55,000 + Benefits + Superb Training + Long-Term Development
Are you an IT Infrastructure Engineer who thrives in fast-paced environments? If you're used to balancing hands-on technical work with cross-functional collaboration and long-term planning, this could be the step you’ve been waiting for.
As IT Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering infrastructure projects and support across a large UK division. From strategic input to boots-on-the-ground implementation, your work will help maintain availability, drive improvement, and build resilient, secure systems - all within a collaborative, growth-focused team.
This is an on-site role, based at the Hull HQ, where visibility, team cohesion, and stakeholder alignment are key.
What You’ll Be Doing:
In this position, you'll combine project delivery, technical oversight, and third-line support to ensure the infrastructure environment supports both operational needs and future growth. You’ll:
Support the development and delivery of the IT infrastructure strategy
Act as a technical escalation point for the UK Service Desk, providing tier 3 support when required
Take ownership of infrastructure projects, from scoping and implementation through to delivery and documentation
Contribute to systems availability, resilience, and security across a diverse, multi-site environment
Design and implement solutions across Microsoft server technologies, Active Directory, M365, and SQL environments
Collaborate with business units and partners to deliver technical solutions that align with evolving needs
Ensure documentation, processes, and support models are kept up to date and clearly communicated
Share knowledge effectively with other team members and drive a unified, “one team” approach
Engage with the wider IT team and internal stakeholders to embed best practice and improve service delivery What You’ll Need:
We’re looking for a pragmatic, proactive engineer who can operate at both technical and strategic levels. You’ll bring:
5+ years’ experience in IT support or infrastructure delivery roles, ideally at 2nd/3rd line level in a business with 1,000+ users
Deep understanding of core Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, M365, SQL)
Experience designing and delivering infrastructure solutions in complex environments
Good working knowledge of networking (Layer 3), firewalls, and security best practices
Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, particularly Azure and M365
Clear, confident communication skills - able to translate complex issues and engage technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to deliver projects on time and to spec, while managing multiple priorities Nice to Have
VMware vSphere and SAN Storage Management
Exposure to Linux , web domains, and SSL certificate management
Broader cloud experience (e.g. AWS, GCP)
Understanding of factory/industrial IT environments, ideally with familiarity with .NET/VB programming and OT systems Why Join?
This is a great role in a growing team where infrastructure is seen as a strategic enabler - not just a support function. You'll report directly into the Head of IT Infrastructure and be trusted to influence how infrastructure evolves in step with business change as well as given the backing to deliver!
You’ll also benefit from:
A permanent, full-time position in a well-backed business that invests in its tech
25 days annual leave + public holidays
Enhanced contributory pension, state-of-the-art laptop & smartphone
Ongoing investment in training, certifications, and industry events
