IT Support Engineer (2nd Line) – onsite in Rugby, Warwickshire

The IT Support Engineer will provide effective IT assistance across all aspects of the business and will coordinate the 1st Line technical support tasks, as required. The position is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Microsoft Server and Desktop operating systems, printers, barcode scanners, and general maintenance of all IT-related hardware/software. The role provides exposure to a broad range of IT-related projects and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to Service Desk Manager regarding issue status and updates.
  • Work with L1 Tech support to ensure all tickets are resolved or escalated as needed.
  • Diagnose and resolve end user issues including desktops, laptops, mobile phones, printers, etc.
  • Set up and configure new laptops and desktops, including installation of authorised software.
  • Perform network patching work and handle user office movements involving computer hardware and phones.
  • Support warehouse printers and scan guns at a technical level and maintain consumable stocks.
  • Ensure all user equipment is logged and documented, including software licensing and IT documentation.
  • Manage backups including Backup to Disk and Backup to Tape.
  • Ensure desktops and laptops are up to date with critical security updates.
  • Maintenance of user email accounts and domain accounts in Office 365 and Active Directory, including user provisioning and deprovisioning.
  • Management and support of telephony solutions.
  • Experience in VMware – server setup and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with 3rd party support partners as required to resolve issues.
  • Assist in coordination of licensing renewals and procurement as required.
  • Be involved in rollout of new solutions/technology as required.
  • Previous exposure to Microsoft Dynamics AX (user setup and roles) is an advantage.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous 1st Line and 2nd Line IT Support experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience required.
  • Strong Windows 11 knowledge.
  • Strong Office 365 knowledge.
