Drive engineering excellence and empower our teams. As a Java Platform Engineer, you'll be the pivotal driver behind building a robust, scalable platform and defining the practices that shape our success. We are looking for a Staff Java Platform Engineer to join our team in EMEA.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and maintenance of core code and infrastructure libraries that serve as standard building blocks for our platform.
- Guide and mentor teams to ensure they follow best practices in development, security, and operations.
- Contribute to R&D and assist all technical teams in making the best decisions on technology, infrastructure, and deployment.
- Work with internal business partners to gather requirements and create solutions.
- Be a part of the on-call schedule to support our product.
Day-to-day work and responsibilities
- Transforming code written in various languages (including Java) into efficient, robust code that runs in the cloud (AWS/GCP).
- Ensuring our product adheres to its SLA and is secure, scalable, and resilient.
- Helping teams identify and structurally solve recurring problems that cause incidents.
- Driving teams to improve monitoring (using Grafana) to detect anomalies, identify performance bottlenecks, and define alerts.
- Ensuring our CI/CD pipelines run smoothly.
- Managing the flow of day-to-day software development initiatives and operations.
- Leading architecture design sessions to safeguard our system architecture.
- Working with developers to reduce bugs, shorten development times, and automate processes.
- Translating complex technical terms for non-technical teams within the company.
What this position requires
- Java and the Spring Ecosystem.
- Developing and operating large-scale cloud-based distributed applications.
- Prioritizing technical debt and executing a plan to address it.
- Monitoring tools like Grafana or DataDog.
- Designing infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and security.
- AWS and/or GCP Cloud.
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible).
- Cassandra, OpenSearch, Kafka, or Spark.
- The Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence).
- Agile methodologies like Scrum/Kanban.
