We're looking for a Java Software Engineer Specialist to join the ever evolving Billing and Funding team to help us unleash the potential of every business.

About the team
Billing and Funding within Worldpay by has built a pricing and billing engine using big-data tech, we are almost at the end of the first phase of an exciting journey re-engineering our core payments platform to be more cost effective, scalable and cloud ready. The next phase of our journey is a move to the cloud, making our software cloud native, our infrastructure code and using CI/CD to increase our speed of delivery.
What you'll own
- We are looking to hire a top-class Software Specialist to help us on our journey. You need to have a strong Engineering background with experience in designing and building highly scalable, loosely coupled, event driven, distributed systems.
- You need to be an expert in writing Java applications using a variety persistence including database, s3 and Kafka.
- Experience of building production applications using AWS and EMR would be beneficial.
- You should be capable of leading by example and establishing industry best practice across all functions of the team including software development, TDD/BDD, DevOps & cloud.
- You would be expected to guide the teams on our journey towards:
- Fostering an engineering mindset within the team
- Establishing industry best practices for software development
- Adoption of DevOps best practices, tools and technologies

You'll own it in our passionate London hub.
What you bring
- Technical Skills (Must)
- Experience in Functional programming using Java 8 or higher
- SQL and NoSQL databases
- Knowledge of building scalable applications in AWS
- Knowledgeable on Development best practices, technologies and tools
- Technical Skills (nice to have)
- Apache Spark
- Kafka
- Knowledge of EMR Serverless
- Design/Architecture
- Knowledgeable on Service Architecture
- Knowledge on current technology architectures and approaches such as Event Driven Design, Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing & CQRS
- General
- Experience of leading change and establishing engineering best practice in technical teams
- Demonstrated accountability for a production service having contributed to that service build
- Great communication skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledgeable on BDD / TDD practices and have worked with these approaches in the past
