Dropmatics is a unified hardware and software platform for high-precision product testing. We design, build, modernise, and operate specialist drop tower rigs, then connect them to our software so clients across industries can control tests, capture better trace data, and manage the entire process from a secure cloud dashboard. We also provide on-site services across the UK.

The Role

We are seeking a hands-on individual to shadow then take charge of the day-to-day operations at Dropmatics. This role is ideal for a recent graduate, or someone with a background in engineering, building, or inventing, who is eager to contribute to a specialised field.

For the right person this isn’t just a job - it’s a chance to become the second person in a growing company and learn directly from an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record. You’ll get hands-on experience across engineering, software, operations, sales, and strategy. This role will evolve into a leadership position with profit share and the freedom to shape the business as if it were your own.

Responsibilities

• Facility Setup & Build – Aid with the design, kit out, and optimisation of our new drop tower facility, including CAD, mechanical assembly, and integrating electronics.
• Operations & Maintenance – Keep equipment running smoothly, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Customer Interaction – Shadow the founder during client visits and gradually take on running meetings, onboarding, demos, and project updates independently.
• Software Development – With guidance, deliver small features from concept to completion, on both the main software products and website.

Optional / Growth Responsibilities

• Business Development – Explore partnerships, create/update brochures, run cold outreach, and attend industry events to generate leads.
• Product Development – Work on new product concepts, prototypes, or service offerings.
• Process & Systems Improvement – Optimise workflows, introduce new tools, or refine technical processes.

Who we are looking for

• Someone with proven practical experience in building, fabricating, or inventing mechanical systems.
• A keen interest in hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and mechanical design.
• Someone who has at least explored writing software and keen to learn more.
• Ability to work proactively, take ownership of projects, and infrequently travel
• Entrepreneurial spark - someone excited by the idea of growing a business as an owner, not just working in one.

Desirable

• A degree in an engineering discipline or related technical field.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Ability to write code and wire up Raspberry Pi / Arduino to control components.
• Familiarity with workshop tools and machinery.
• Any experience that shows you can take an idea from concept to reality - whether that’s a uni project, a side hustle, or something you’ve built in your garage.

This role is based full-time in London or at our site in Rye, East Sussex, starting ASAP.

£30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
