We welcome applications from Lead Engineers across this region.Our Structures Team is involved in designing major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland, with cumulative values exceeding £1bn.Amey manages the Southwest and Northeast Trunk Road Network Management contracts, awarded in 2020 and 2022 respectively, both long-term contracts with potential extensions. We also have diverse projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities, and contractors across the country.These contracts provide excellent opportunities for technical, engineering, and professional development at all career stages, involved in some of Scotland’s most exciting engineering projects.The RoleOur Lead Bridge Engineers are key members of the Design team, working alongside Transport Scotland. As a Lead Senior Engineer, you will support your Design Team Leader on various civil schemes, lead projects, and mentor junior designers.Responsibilities include:Leading a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions complying with standards and client requirementsPreparing and checking designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to meet quality, cost, and schedule criteriaOverseeing junior staff and ensuring quality of their workManaging project budgets and costs for successful deliveryLiaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, responding to queriesContributing to bids and business developmentPromoting health and safety practices within the teamWhat You Will BringExperience and expertise in relevant technical fields, likely from a Senior Engineer role or similarAbility to produce and check high-standard engineering designs independentlyExperience with health, safety, and welfare management, including relevant regulations and systemsCapability to act as main engineering contact, e.g., CRE for Network Rail schemesKnowledge of design and specification processes, able to advise and check designsProficiency with relevant software and analytical toolsUnderstanding of CDM and risk management, hazard communication, and mitigationAbility to act as Principal Designer on appropriate projectsPeople management skills, capable of managing a medium-sized teamIncorporated or Chartered status preferred or required on certain contractsWhat We OfferAt Amey, we value our people, offering flexibility, career development, benefits, and support.
