We are seeking an experienced
Lead Commissioning Engineer
to oversee and deliver commissioning activities on a HV electrical renewable energy project, part of a critical high-voltage transmission network upgrade. This role will suit a candidate with significant experience in
protection and control commissioning
on high-voltage substations (132kV, 275kV, and 400kV). You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure seamless project delivery, safety compliance, and technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities Lead commissioning activities
for high-voltage substation systems, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely delivery. Commission complex protection and control schemes, including:
Feeders, Transformers, Isolators, Fault Throwers CTs, VTs, Differential Relays, Distance Relays Overcurrent Relays, Earth Fault Relays Inter-Tripping Schemes and Delayed Auto-Reclose systems
Plan, manage, and execute commissioning schedules, ensuring all documentation, reporting, and handover activities are completed to the highest standards. Provide
technical leadership and support
to the commissioning team and site engineers. Conduct and supervise functional testing, integration testing, and FAT/SAT activities. Ensure all activities comply with relevant standards, including
SSEN/TP141/SP authorisation requirements
and IEC standards. Requirements Degree or equivalent qualification in
Electrical Engineering
(Chartered status preferred). Proven experience (5+ years) as a
Commissioning Engineer , ideally in a
lead role
on large-scale UK or EU substation projects. Hands-on experience with
HV protection and control systems
and commissioning of 132kV, 275kV, and 400kV assets. Relevant site safety qualifications, including CCNSG / Safety Passport, First Aid, Manual Handling, IOSH, and CSCS.
