What youll be doing

As a Lead Data Engineer, youll play a hands-on role in designing and developing data processing and persistence software components that handle data at scale. Youll work within agile teams, leading engineers, driving best practice, and ensuring robust, high-quality solutions that meet user needs.

Your responsibilities will include: Designing, coding, testing, and troubleshooting complex data components and subsystems. Leading development practices, ensuring performance, security, and operational readiness. Mentoring and coaching team members, helping them to grow and deliver to a high standard. Working closely with architects on data pipelines (ETL/ELT) and distributed data frameworks. Driving technical proposals, advising on effort estimates, and contributing to pre-sales activities. Taking responsibility for testing, integration, and operational delivery. Guiding your team through problem-solving with strong technical leadership. What you'll need

Proven track record of leading engineering teams on data-intensive projects. Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, or Python. Proficiency in SQL (including extensions for analytical workloads). Deep knowledge of distributed data stores, frameworks, and ETL/ELT platforms (e.g. Azure Databricks, Informatica). Experience applying design standards, coding best practices, and operational readiness (automation, deployment). Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts both verbally and in writing. Experience designing both analytical and operational data models. A genuine interest in AI technologies. Desirable extras:

Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP Data Services). Knowledge of data warehouse methods and techniques. Practical experience with AI tools and processes. Active involvement in data or technology communities. Whats on offer
