An established manufacturer of special purpose machinery is seeking a highly experienced Lead Design Engineer. This strategic but hands on role includes the potential to head the design department, lead innovative engineering projects, and mentor junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design projects for bespoke automated machinery. Manage and guide a small team of design engineers. Liaise with internal departments including production, sales, and servicing. Ensure all design work complies with applicable industry standards. Drive improvements in design efficiency, reliability, and product innovation.
Lead Design Engineer Job Requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. At least 8 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in special-purpose machinery. Proficient in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks). Strong leadership, communication, and project coordination skills. Ability to work hands-on and guide projects from concept to completion.
