Lead Electronics Engineer – UAV DevelopmentFull-time | South East England, UK (on-site with occasional international travel)Salary: £60,000 – £80,000Overview:A leading developer of advanced commercial drone platforms is seeking a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to join its high-performance R&D team.The company designs and manufactures next-generation UAV systems with class-leading endurance, payload capacity, and modular architecture. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of electrical and avionics development across design, testing, and integration phases.Key Responsibilities:Design and optimise electrical power and avionics systems from prototype through to production.Oversee PCB design, testing, and firmware development.Develop and execute bench and integration tests for performance validation.Integrate payloads, sensors, and avionics with autopilot and control systems.Supervise wiring, assembly, and quality assurance of UAV electrical systems.Collaborate with software and mechanical teams for full system integration.Lead and mentor a small electrical engineering team, managing workload and reporting progress.Produce and maintain technical documentation in line with engineering standards.Essential Requirements:Degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Drone Technology, or related field.Strong knowledge of power electronics, avionics systems, and signal processing.Proven experience in building, wiring, and assembling complex drones, robotics, or similar systems.Skilled in integrating multiple avionics and payload components.Track record of managing end-to-end development projects.Strong communication skills, fluent in English.Preferred Skills:Experience building, flying, and testing drones.Knowledge of control systems and PID tuning for UAVs.PCB design experience (KiCad preferred).Firmware development for embedded systems.Familiarity with PX4, DroneCAN, and MAVLink.Proficiency with GitHub and Linux workflows.What’s on Offer:£60,000 – £80,000 salary.Key technical role in a small, elite UAV engineering team.Work on cutting-edge UAV technology in a fast-moving, innovative environment.Collaboration with aerospace and aviation industry experts.Opportunities for career growth, international travel, and involvement in advanced R&D.If you think you'd be a good fit - please apply directly to this ad with your latest CV
