product testing, certification, and innovation ? An established manufacturer of high-performance building products is seeking an experienced
R&D Testing and NPD Engineer Lead
to join their expanding Technical and R&D team. The Role
As the
R&D Testing and NPD Engineer Lead , you'll play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering the company's product testing and new product development programmes. You'll ensure all products meet compliance, certification, and commercial standards while supporting innovation across the business. Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and delivery of product testing and R&D projects in line with the company's development roadmap
Manage testing processes — including scoping, quotations, and coordination with external test providers
Prepare detailed technical documentation and certification submissions
Carry out testing programmes, including ad-hoc trials for bespoke projects
Oversee project management aspects such as scheduling, budgeting, and reporting
Work cross-functionally with Technical, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to drive product and process improvements
Liaise with certification bodies to create and maintain product scopes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Produce or coordinate CAD drawings and technical documentation for internal and external use
About You
Proven experience in a
technical, R&D, or product testing
role — ideally within
construction, manufacturing, or building products
Familiarity with
UK product certification standards
such as
EN1634-1
or
BS476
(advantageous)
Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and analytical skills
Strong communication skills with the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders
Proficient in
Microsoft Office
and comfortable working with data and internal systems
CAD proficiency
preferred but not essential
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong commercial awareness
