Role Overview

We’re seeking a skilled and enthusiastic engineer to join our Energy team, providing subject matter expertise in Windows infrastructure, virtualisation, and networking within Operational Technology (OT) environments. You’ll play a key role in designing secure, high-performance architectures for both active projects and new business opportunities.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, involving:

Designing system architectures and estimating configuration effort Specifying server hardware and network infrastructure Building and configuring virtualised environments Collaborating with our internal cyber team to ensure secure-by-design systems Supporting project delivery through documentation, testing, and commissioning

✅ Essential Experience

Minimum 5 years in OT or industrial environments, with expertise in:

Virtualisation (VMware and/or HyperV) Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), domain setup, and Group Policy Network switch and firewall configuration Cybersecure system delivery aligned with IEC 62443 Producing design and test documentation (FDS, SDS, FAT specs) Leading small projects or sub-teams Reviewing technical work and ensuring QA compliance Willingness to travel and a full UK driving licence

Desirable Skills

Experience in any of the following is a strong advantage:

SCADA platforms: Zenon, Siemens PCS7/WinCC, FactoryTalk, Panorama, ArchestrA IEC61131 programming (ladder, FBD, SFC, structured text) Bay Controllers, RTUs, and gateways (GE, SEL, Siemens, Schneider) PLC technologies: Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Schneider EcoStruxure Communication protocols: IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101/104 Network architectures: RSTP, PRP, HSR; SDN and flow controllers Simulation tools: SIMIT, WinMOD, PICS Renewable energy control systems and legacy PLCs Safety systems (IEC 61508/61511)
