You know that feeling when you walk into a factory and half the kit looks like it's held together with gaffer tape and crossed fingers?
Yeah, we don't want that.
I'm looking for a Lead Engineer who can keep the wheels turning (literally), stop the machines from sulking, and make sure production keeps flowing without endless downtime.
This isn't about sitting in an office, ticking boxes, or writing reports nobody reads. You'll be hands-on—fixing, maintaining, upgrading, and generally making sure the place doesn't grind to a halt.
The business:
Over the last 25 years, the comany has grown into a Multi-Million value-added specific manufacturer, supplying some of the biggest names across their industr and providing the best products. They're a big enough to be stable, and agile enough to get things done.
Here's what you'll actually be doing:
- Keeping machinery in top shape—servicing, repairing, inspecting. You know the drill.
- Running the service plant: boilers, chilled water, air, effluent treatment. (Sexy stuff, right?)
- Getting involved in new installs, upgrades, and moves.
- Working with operators to squeeze every ounce of efficiency out of the line.
- Following GMP and safety rules without moaning about them.
- Doing risk assessments before diving into a job. (Nobody wants a finger in the product, do they?)
What we need from you:
- Multi-skilled—ideally mechanical and electrical experience. Also led or leading engineer(s).
- Some kind of recognised engineering qualification (apprenticeship, ONC, City & Guilds, 17th/18th Edition).
- Experience in FMCG manufacturing is nice, but not a deal-breaker if you can prove you can handle the standards and hygiene.
- Able to work solo or with the team without getting in a strop.
- Confident enough to talk to operators, managers, and anyone else without mumbling into your boots.
- A healthy respect for accurate record-keeping (because “I fixed it, honest” doesn't cut it).
What you'll get:
A proper engineering role in an FMCG business that values getting things done right, not just done fast. You'll be listened to, supported, and trusted to use your skills. And yes, you'll be busy.
If you're the sort of engineer who likes problem-solving, thrives on variety, and doesn't mind the odd 3am breakdown, this is probably your bag.
