OverviewWe’re supporting a leading UK financial services organisation in their search for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to strengthen their technology function. Sitting at the core of the infrastructure team, this is a hybrid role blending hands-on technical delivery with leadership responsibilities. You’ll act as a senior technical authority across a wide range of platforms while guiding and developing a small group of junior engineers, with the team expected to expand further in the next 12 months. The position comes at a pivotal point as the firm transitions towards a fully independent, cloud-hosted infrastructure. You’ll play a central role in shaping the design, migration, and ongoing optimisation of this environment, working closely with stakeholders across the business as well as third-party providers.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a technical lead across the infrastructure team, providing mentorship and oversight to a few junior engineers and influencing the growth of the functionDesign, deploy, and manage secure, resilient infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments, with a strong focus on Azure advanced services (AD, Functions, Logic Apps, Automation)Oversee identity and access management, including Okta, SSO, MFA, and conditional access policiesSupport and optimise Azure VDIs and ensure effective endpoint security through Defender, Intune, and related toolsDeliver automation through PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting, and Infrastructure as Code practices (Terraform)Manage backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies across critical business systemsProvide escalation support for Windows 10/11, Exchange Online, SharePoint/OneDrive, Netskope, Mimecast, and proprietary business applicationsOversee networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, IP routing, VPNs) and Azure networking (VNets, Load Balancers, Application Gateways)Collaborate with internal technology and facilities teams to ensure operational stability and high service standardsLead infrastructure change initiatives, migrations, and upgrades, ensuring robust documentation and compliance with governance frameworksWhat You’ll Bring5+ years’ experience in infrastructure engineering, with recent exposure to Azure and hybrid cloud environmentsProven technical leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and manage junior engineers while remaining hands-onStrong scripting and automation ability in PowerShell (Python or Bash beneficial)Solid understanding of networking, security protocols (OAuth, SAML, SSL/TLS), and firewall technologiesHands-on experience with endpoint and VDI management, including Intune and Azure VDIFamiliarity with infrastructure monitoring, governance, and documentation best practicesExperience with CI/CD pipelines, agile delivery, and Jira/Confluence for task and sprint management(Preferred) Exposure to cloud security and governance frameworks, including policy design and enforcement #J-18808-Ljbffr
