We are seeking a Lead OT Security Engineer to strengthen the cybersecurity of our Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and Operational Technology (OT) environments. You will focus on securing complex CNI and OT systems while collaborating with engineering, operational and programme teams, alongside leading NGET's technical engagement with Ofgem and NCSC on CNI security enhancements.
This role is based in Warwick for 2 days per week and can be combined with hybrid working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical lead for cybersecurity within CNI and OT environments, providing practical guidance to ensure secure implementation of system changes in-line with regulatory, industry and project-specific expectations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to embed cybersecurity throughout the full system lifecycle, from initial design, through deployment and into ongoing support.
- Offer deep subject matter expertise in securing OT, CNI and SCADA systems, with a focus on applying and validating appropriate security controls across diverse environments such as hybrid systems, legacy infrastructure and industrial control platforms.
- Lead the execution of cyber maturity and risk assessments, and support threat model development and tailored control frameworks to identify and mitigate risks effectively.
- Contribute to the development, review and maintenance of key assurance documentation such as security cases, risk registers, control effectiveness frameworks and regulatory compliance evidence.
- Provide coaching and technical mentorship to colleagues, fostering a collaborative OT Security team.
- Actively engage in knowledge exchange and initiatives aimed at enhancing OT and CNI cybersecurity capabilities.
What you'll need
- A degree (or equivalent experience) in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Recognised cybersecurity certifications: CISSP, CISM, GICSP or equivalent
- Technical certifications or training aligned to OT security: ISA/IEC 62443, GIAC GICSP/GRID, SCADA/ICS Security or equivalent.
- Understanding and hands-on experience in securing CNI, OT or high availability data centres.
- Understanding of UK regulatory, cybersecurity or industrial frameworks, such as NIS/NIS2, CAF, NIST, ISA/IEC 62443 and ISO/IEC 27001.
- Experience in collaborating across multi-disciplinary teams, such as IT, OT, and security functions, with strong stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in Electricity Transmission, Gas Transmission is desirable.
- A good understanding of National Grid's business objectives and its obligations to wider industry participants and regulatory authorities.

- A salary of £61,400 to £77,000 + Benefits package + Training and Development, plus £3,000 Market Supplement
