Job Title: Protection and Control Engineer
Location: Hybrid (Ideally 2-3 days/week in Stafford)
Contract Length: Initial 6 Months
IR35 Status: Outside IR35

About the Role:
We are urgently seeking an experienced Protection and Control Engineer with strong National Grid project experience to join a leading engineering consultancy on a contract basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-profile transmission and distribution projects, with a focus on delivering high-quality protection and control designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and review protection and control schemes for high-voltage substations (400kV/275kV/132kV).
Prepare and validate protection settings and coordination studies.
Produce detailed design documentation including SLDs, wiring diagrams, and relay configuration files.
Liaise with National Grid and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with NG standards and specifications.
Support project delivery from concept through to commissioning.
Ensure all work adheres to CDM regulations and health & safety standards. Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience working on National Grid transmission projects.
CDAE Authorisation (current or recently held).
Strong understanding of NGTS, TP106, and ENA standards.
Proficient in protection relay configuration (e.g., Siemens, GE, ABB).
Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings and documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
