Role

Lead Software Engineer

Location: Fully Remote (UK-based)

What you’ll be doing

• Lead a software development squad, ensuring smooth delivery and quality output
• Collaborate with Product Managers to define requirements and shape end-to-end solutions
• Organise workloads, track progress, and mitigate risks or delays
• Review code and enforce QA/testing standards with senior developers
• Mentor and line manage engineers, supporting growth and resilience
• Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across teams
• Work with architects and senior developers to manage technical debt
• Support hiring and oversee onboarding within your squad

What you’ll need

• 5+ years’ hands-on software development experience
• Strong background in PHP and Laravel (3+ years)
• Demonstrable leadership skills, including mentoring and performance management
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Knowledge of modern software development methodologies and practices
• A proactive, growth-oriented mindset

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science or related field
• Prior experience managing engineers
• Awareness of Machine Learning concepts
