Lead Trading System Engineer
New Today
Overview
Lead Trading System Engineer at Reppls — remote role overlapping European and US market hours (09:30–22:00 CEST / 3:30 AM–4:00 PM ET).
What We Do
We design and operate a high-performance trading platform that connects to multiple brokers and exchanges worldwide. This platform handles order management, execution optimization, simulations, and reconciliation between modeled and real-world trades to keep our trading strategies running reliably and profitably.
Why This Role Exists
We are expanding to manage multiple accounts and multiple regions. We are creating this leadership role for someone who has already built and run quantitative execution in production to achieve day-one reliability without reinventing well-understood components.
Responsibilities
- Architect, harden, and scale a multi-account, multi-region execution stack (US → Europe, Japan) and keep it production-ready.
- Own open/close mechanics and the daily path to orders before market open; ensure zero trade errors and accelerate the order-prep pipeline.
- Lead 1–2 engineers while coding hands-on; set reviewable, well-documented code standards and mentor ICs.
- Formalize process maturity: introduce lightweight RFC/architecture reviews and pragmatic release gates, strengthen CI/CD and release cadence.
- Define incident escalation parameters and risk thresholds; first-line remains duty/SRE where applicable, with clear triggers to involve senior leadership as agreed.
- Integrate and optimize with brokers/primes (JPM, GS, BofA, Clear), EMS (Eze) and platforms (RealTick, Eclipse); expand and tune routing/SOR and regional behaviors.
- Monitor live trading and drive best-execution experiments (reduce slippage and market impact) once baseline reliability is achieved.
- Own simulation and reconciliation: improve the simulator and reconcile modeled vs. real-world outcomes.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with quants, trading, and ops while operating a largely self-contained execution domain.
- Leverage AWS for scale, reliability, and observability.
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills
- Python Expertise — proven experience building complex, scalable systems.
- Quant Equity Trading Knowledge — experience in systematic trading across global equity markets at funds with >$100M AUM, working with top-tier prime brokers (e.g., JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs).
- Order Management Systems (OMS) & Execution Management Systems (EMS) — understanding of order routing, trade reconciliation, and algorithmic execution.
- AWS Proficiency — hands-on experience with AWS services for deployment, storage, and observability.
- Engineering Discipline — unit testing, clean code, and iterative design mindset.
- Strong Communication Skills — fluent English, able to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Availability During Market Hours — overlapping European and US market times.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience setting up and maintaining FIX connections with prime brokers (incl. Drop Copy).
- Knowledge of market microstructure and execution optimization techniques.
- DevOps experience with Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
