We are currently recruiting for a Legal Engineer to join our busy Business Transformation & Innovative team, which sits within the IT department.
This role will focus on mastering a broad technology toolkit to deliver cutting edge solutions to our lawyers and clients. You will bridge the gap between legal and tech professionals.
Demonstrating understanding of the relevant priorities and mindset of the different groups and providing expertise to deliver solutions and insights that improve legal practice.
The role is fast-paced and varied. It will involve managing and delivering projects (everything from document automation to AI) testing and trialling new products, delivering business process mapping, to drive understanding and ownership of how the firm’s teams operate, as well as identification of where technical processes can be enhanced and improved.
Duties will include:
Lead discovery and business process mapping sessions, with the ability to compile information from a range of sources, and output business requirements, blockers, and contribute to design decisions Ability to understand and analyse legal and business processes, making use of demonstrable process mapping skills Ownership and analysis of design and requirements through development, testing, training through to business readiness and acceptance Work with senior management to facilitate the agreement of solutions and recommendations Collaborate with lawyers, paralegals and support teams, and other stakeholders to identify areas for process improvement and automation within the firm Support lawyers in their engagement with new suppliers and products, facilitating demos and product pilots Promoting and presenting solutions to the wider firm, including training, demos and one-to-one support Managing and delivering document automation and AI review projects Driving efficiencies and actively suggesting ways to deliver faster and smarter to unlock value sooner Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to produce high standard reports to senior management Skills, Attributes and Experience:
Previous legal knowledge essential, with a legal qualification highly desirable Good understanding of technology and the benefits that it adds in a professional services environment: preferably in a law firm Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and contribute to simultaneous projects Ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and clearly articulate and explain legal technology solutions benefits in non-technical terms Knowledge of technology and IT literate particularly MS Office: MS Power Platform is advantageous Experience of, or desire to learn how to use, legal technology products, including simple coding Logical thinking and attention to detail As well as our Bath office, we will also consider candidates wanting to join our Swindon and Oxford offices.
