A little more about your role…

  • Liaison with colleagues within the Lighting and Energy Solutions team, wider multi-disciplinary design teams, stakeholders and clients;
  • Production of detailed design layouts, engineering detail drawings and support documentation in accordance with WSPs Quality Assurance and client requirements;
  • Input on the preparation of technical reports, feasibility studies, designs, specifications and contract documents and TA 501 – Road Lighting Appraisals (formerly TA 49/07)
  • Preparation of Lighting Reality calculations;
  • Delivery of works from Highway frameworks and key clients in the Strategic Road Network.
  • Engagement with professional organisations, contractors and suppliers of luminaire, columns, control manufacturers;
  • Support with the development of project proposals and progress against agreed programme milestones and budget;
  • A strong understanding of external lighting standards, industry professional guidance, design manual for road and bridges, CDM legislation and regulations.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…

  • Registration with the Engineering Council (EngTech, IEng or CEng) or working towards;
  • Are proficient in the use of Lighting Reality design software and AutoCAD;
  • Have a good general awareness and understanding of electrical design and lighting maintenance operations;
  • Can demonstrate competency and experiencein lighting design from conception through to issue for construction;
  • Can work independently, and as part of a team having excellent communication and organisational skills;
  • Shown ability to deliver projects in different sectors.
  • A good knowledge of external lighting products.
  • Knowledge of requirements for trunk and local roads/ or an exterior lighting design consultancy;
