The Role – Machine Learning Engineer

A leading global trading and research firm is hiring a Machine Learning Engineer to join its growing ML function. This team plays a central role in designing and scaling a world-class machine learning platform that supports a variety of trading and research functions.


This is a highly technical role focused on building robust ML systems, improving feedback loops, and choosing the right tools for complex modelling challenges. The environment is fast-paced and experimentation-friendly, with a close integration between trading, research, and engineering.


Responsibilities And Priorities:

• Build and maintain high-performance infrastructure for model training and inference

• Enhance research workflows to improve experimentation speed and reliability

• Select and apply appropriate modelling approaches (neural nets, random forests, gradient boosting, etc.)

• Contribute to the design of tools and APIs that enable fast and reproducible research

• Collaborate closely with trading and research teams to align ML development with business needs


Requirements:

• Proven experience taking ML models from concept to production

• Strong mathematical background in optimisation, linear algebra, and regularisation techniques

• Expertise in ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow)

• Experience maintaining organised, reproducible ML research codebases

• Passion for staying current with the ML research landscape

• A curious and critical mindset, comfortable asking hard questions and challenging assumptions

• Fluency in English
