Overview

Job Title: Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer

As a Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer, you\'ll contribute to and manage the selection, creation, and maintenance of technologies required to meet the needs of our customers, strategic targets, and architecture outcomes. You\'ll also develop products using modern engineering practices and tools. You\'ll collaborate with product owners to develop product roadmaps and manage the lifecycle of the team\'s products. You\'ll support engineered products to respond to customer feedback and new feature requests, resolve production issues, and help customers consume our products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team, developing skillsets and capabilities to support strategic outcomes
  • Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development
  • Support strategic observability, maintaining awareness of service, creating operational views of data, and supporting development of targets for the team
  • Provide operational support for product and service issues, acting as technical escalation for technologies supported by your team
  • Liaise with SysOps leadership, product owners, and other stakeholders to maintain and deliver the workload backlog with a focus on automation and removing inefficiencies
  • Lead a team of Mainframe Analysts in a critical on-site 24/7 environment, role-model engineering practices to deliver high quality service and strategic outcomes
  • Leverage SRE and DevOps principles to develop and maintain automation, reducing manual tasks and human errors
  • Collaborate across the bank to share engineering best practices, developing, configuring, and managing products and tooling to meet current and future requirements

Skills You\'ll Need

  • Experience managing a technical operations team and understanding capabilities and technologies the team delivers
  • Experience in Agile environments using Scrum and Kanban; familiarity with Jira
  • DevOps practices such as CI/CD; experience with Python, Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell
  • Experience with observability tools and using data to continuously improve solutions
  • Extensive experience with mainframe technologies (IBM Z Series) and IBM/Broadcom products (CA7, CICS, DB2, Connect:Direct, RACF, MQ, WebSphere)
  • Experience with Grafana, Splunk, and ServiceNow
  • Strong collaborative communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts to stakeholders
  • Understanding of controls management and execution

Package & Working Arrangements

This role requires shift patterns: 4 days on, 4 days off, split between 2 days shifts back-to-back and 2 night shifts back-to-back. The client offers the following package:

  • Salary £54,000 - £68,000 Base
  • Guaranteed Bonus £13,500 per year for committing to night shifts
  • Guaranteed Bonus 10% Cash Benefits
  • Performance Bonus (Discretionary)
  • 10% Pension contributions
