Maintenance Engineer

PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
• To work as a key member of the engineering team.
• Support production through engineering.
• To work with shop floor management to priorities repairs, essential and planned maintenance/Service of all machines
• To liaise with engineering manager on performance of machines and planned repairs and maintenance and new plant and machinery installations.
• To work with the quality department on machine performance and quality issues.
• Actively promote the reduction of scrap and the efficient running of the Conversion and Extrusion sections.
• To be proactive in the development of new processes and procedures in order to increase efficiency and reduce waste and improve quality in all aspects of the manufacture and supply of products.
• To support the embedding of continuous improvement within all areas of the business.
• . To help ensure Trioworld UK remains proactive in the development of new methods and products, remaining at all times competitive and attractive to every customer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
External Responsibilities
* Maintain close working relationships and effective communication levels with all machinery and spare parts suppliers to maximise support levels
Internal Operational responsibilities
* Accurately record breakdown and downtimes on maintenance logs.
* Work with engineering manager with regard to machine problems, maintenance requirements and to prioritise machine repairs and maintenance.
* Ensure Health & Safety procedures are adhered to in line with legal requirements and company policy at all times.
* Where required work with production management to produce operator guide and instruction for each machine.
* Co-ordinate overtime working and holiday cover within the engineering team.
* Advise and train relevant personnel in new process and procedures
* 5S and housekeeping.
* Ensure all machinery is maintained to the highest possible standards
* Ensure all machinery can operate effectively, efficiently and safely
* Ensure that all machinery is repaired and maintained in a safe manner in line with health and safety legal requirements.
* Plan, prepare and install all new plant and machinery
* Maintain adequate spares and consumable materials
* Where appropriate recommend modifications to machinery to improve machine life or reduce maintenance.
Internal responsibilities
* Effectively handle all aspects of your job role in conjunction with the internal systems as laid down in the ISO, BRC, IOP and Hygiene processes and procedures.
* Ensure that all machines are maintained and repaired safely and meet legal requirements. Customer’s expectation.
* Day to day liaison with shift managers on machine issues.
* Notify engineering manager and shift manager promptly of any machine and maintenance issues or breakdowns.
* Endeavour to reduce scrap and rejects where possible and support continuous improvement.
* Effectively handle all aspects of your job role in conjunction with internal systems laid down in the ISO9001 quality procedures manual.
* Take personal responsibility for the safety of yourself and your work colleagues in accordance with company Health and Safety policy.
* Undertake any ad hoc projects as and when required by management
* Complete all internal hygiene maintenance as and when required
* Help to maintain the company premises.
* Maintain machinery maintenance records.
* Maintain all drawings and suppliers manuals in an orderly fashion.
* Ensure all spares are stored tidily.
* Ensure workshop is kept tidy and orderly.

DESIRABLE SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
18th Edition electrical installations
Proven work experience as a maintenance engineer.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, systems.
Ability to read system schematics.
Advanced troubleshooting skills.
Understanding of safety and equipment procedures.
Good communication and training skills
