Maintenance Engineer \n\nSalary: £55,000 Per Annum + Fantastic Benefits & Culture \n\nLocation: Manchester \n\n3 Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday \n\nGap Technical is proud to be partnering with a leading national FMCG manufacturing business in their search for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their Manchester Facility. This role is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and reputable organisation.\n\nRole Overview\n As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the site through a range of engineering tasks. You will work closely with the production team to deliver timely maintenance, resolve breakdowns, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nOperational Engineering\n\nRespond promptly to equipment breakdowns, perform fault-finding, and implement effective repairs.\nIdentify root causes of issues and apply a "fix it right first time" approach.\nCollaborate with the production team to coordinate and schedule engineering activities during the shift.\nAccurately document all tasks, downtime, and handovers using the CMMS system.\nSupport other engineers during complex breakdowns or periods of high demand.\nProvide cover during engineer absences (e.g., holidays or sickness).Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)\n\nCarry out scheduled PPM activities to ensure equipment reliability and performance.\nMaintain accurate records of maintenance activities in line with the PPM schedule.\nIdentify and report any equipment deficiencies to the Engineering Management team.Site Standards and Compliance\n\nMaintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure compliance with company policies, Health & Safety regulations, and the Quality System.\nComplete work-based risk assessments as required.\nEnsure all engineering activities align with site procedures and safety protocols.Training and Colleague Development\n\nSupport machine training for production operatives, ensuring understanding of basic operational efficiencies.\nWork with relevant departments to ensure SOPs are up to date and properly followed.Projects and Continuous Improvement\n\nWork with the Engineering Manager to support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, cost, and safety.\nContribute to engineering projects, both major and ad hoc, as required.\nUndertake personal projects aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and performance.Skills & Attributes\n\nStrong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent time management and the ability to prioritise workload.\nEffective communicator with the ability to build relationships across departments.\nCommitment to maintaining high operational and safety standards.\nPositive attitude, strong work ethic, and a proactive approach to challenges.Desirable Qualifications & Experience\n\nMinimum of 5 years' engineering experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment (ideally within the food industry).\nHNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.\nNVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent (preferably with an electrical bias).\nMultiskilled with strong electrical competence.How to Apply\n\nTo apply, please send your CV via the Apply Now option.
