Role Overview As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all gym facilities, equipment, and building systems are maintained to the highest standards. You will play a key role in safeguarding the operational excellence and aesthetic integrity of our sites, ensuring a seamless experience for members and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities Facility Maintenance Conduct regular inspections, preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs across multiple Central London sites. Maintain gym equipment (cardio, strength, and functional fitness machines), lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Oversee maintenance of changing rooms, spa areas, and other member facilities. Ensure all sites are consistently presented to a luxury, brand-aligned standard. Compliance & Safety Maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Carry out risk assessments and record maintenance logs accurately. Support the Facilities Manager in contractor management, safety checks, and planned maintenance schedules. Operational Support Respond swiftly to urgent maintenance issues to minimize downtime and disruption. Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and site teams to coordinate repairs and replacements. Support new site openings, refurbishments, and minor project works when required.
Skills & Experience Essential: Proven experience in a similar maintenance role (preferably within hospitality, leisure, or high-end retail environments). Strong practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and general building maintenance. Experience maintaining fitness equipment (Technogym, Life Fitness, or similar brands desirable). Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently across multiple sites. Good communication skills, professional presentation, and attention to detail. Desirable: Relevant qualifications (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering). Knowledge of building management systems (BMS) and HVAC systems. Experience working in luxury or design-led environments. Personal Attributes Professional, proactive, and service-driven attitude. Takes pride in maintaining immaculate spaces.
