AACE has excellent opportunities for qualified and experienced maritime safety engineers. Location: UK Wide (predominantly South West). Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 (dependent on background, qualification, and experience).

Responsibilities
- Provide safety advice, guidance and leadership in a range of surface and sub-surface projects and programmes.
- Regularly deliver safety artefacts and provide independent and assured safety advice to clients.
- Support the delivery of safety projects to time, cost and quality, while meeting client and company expectations.
- Apply knowledge and experience of safety and risk management techniques, processes and concepts to help clients understand and comply with UK safety legislation and UK MOD Safety policy.
- Collaborate with a team of subject matter experts; learn new technical skills and develop consultancy capabilities such as business development and bid writing.
- Be part of a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and contribute to diverse, varied day-to-day project work.
Qualifications and Skills
- Essential: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- Essential: Experience in maritime safety engineering (ex-military and/or comparable industry experience).
- Essential: Detailed knowledge/experience of MOD safety processes such as Defence Safety Authority (DSA) regulations, DEFSTAN 00-056, JSP 430 and POSMS or similar.
- Essential: Ability to hold SC security clearance.
- Essential: Authoring skills for safety documents including hazard logs, safety case reports and ALARP justifications/statements.
- Essential: Proficiency with the full MS Office 365 suite.
- Essential: Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Desirable: Qualifications in safety engineering (e.g., Ship Safety Management Office, SEMT, ISO 9001, ISM Code Auditor).
- Desirable: Experience with Safety Engineering tools (e.g., Reliability Workbench, ASCE, BowTie, ETA/FTA).
- Desirable: Incorporated or Chartered Engineer membership in a relevant professional body.
