With its most recent acquisitions, Heroux-Devtek is bolstering its status as one of the foremost landing gear, actuation and hydraulic system designers and manufacturers in the global aerospace industry.Division LocationLocated in Runcorn, United Kingdom, our newly extended 120,000 sq. ft. facility is a fully integrated site offering comprehensive manufacturing, repair, and overhaul services to the major players in the landing gear industry. Designated as a Center of Excellence, the facility specializes in surface treatment and assembly of small to medium-sized landing gear systems. As a key part of the Centre of Division, the facility supports several global programs, including: Gripen – SAAB, Hawk - BAE Systems, KF21 - Hanwha Aerospace, AW101 - Leonardo Helicopters. With a strong focus on cutting-edge technology, advanced manufacturing processes, and lean techniques, we are committed to delivering high-value, precision-engineered components for complex landing gear systems.Summary Of PositionThe Materials & Processes (M&P) Engineer is responsible to ensure product integrity during design, manufacturing, repair, and aftermarket service.Main ResponsibilitiesValuate, qualify, approve and specify all materials and processes used on landing gear design components. Support engineering drawing release process and Engineering Change Order review.Technically support Procurement/QA/Manufacturing operations related to M&P: supply chain processing issues, specifications, internal procedures, and data card approvals.Support technical review of in-service product investigations (FRACAS) and customer product concerns.Respond to material availability and suitable substitutions.Act as focal for REACH requirements and evaluate site impact. Support identification and testing of alternative products.Support internal and external special process audits.Support efficiency and cost reduction projects as applicable.High level of responsibility: Must be able to operate independently. Must be able to make sound engineering decisions.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in materials or metallurgical engineering or equivalent.Minimum of four (4) years in the metallurgical industry, preferably in aerospace.Expertise in materials and processes related topics such as high strength steel, aluminum and titanium alloys, heat treating, plating, peening, forging, casting and NDT processes.Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.Practical experience with metallurgical laboratory testing.Dynamic, autonomous and able to resolve complex technical problems; strong teamwork and customer focus.Able to work on many issues with priority awareness.Good technical writing and communication skills.Good English speaking and writing; French language skills are an advantage.Operates with minimal supervision; keeps the department head informed of key developments and major issues related to M&P.Willingness to travel between local sites and outside of the country when necessary.What We OfferGenerous group pension plan with up to 7.5% employer contribution matched by employees.
