My client, a leading Engineering company based in Reading area are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer on a full time, permanent basis. Candidates must have a minimum of5 years of experience of mechanical design experience within industry.As part of the role, the Design Engineer will have partial responsibility for the technical execution of multiple projects (Client projects and R&D projects) together with managing the design documentations to Clients and Production.
Main Duties:
Lead client driven projects with the assistance of the Senior Engineer and the support of other engineers within the team.
Assist the project management team in converting clients engineering requirements into detailed defined instructions, identifying the key priorities for the procurement and production departments to complete a project.
Conceive, research, and develop engineering designs from product ideas gathered by liaising with Clients, together with Sales, Projects, and Production departments.
Evaluate all key factors including client requirements, use of the product, material selection, safety, legal requirements, and design for manufacture.
Lead internal design reviews for new design with assistance from the Senior Engineer.
Responsible for assigned design projects and delivering these projects within the required timescale.
Create Design file for each project to ensure design criteria and design solution is captured on a document. Including any calculations and analysis performed to validate the solution.
Check/approve engineering documentations (drawings, qualification, calculations, etc)
Provide technical support to client with help from the Senior Engineer.
Attend and contribute to associated project meetings as technical lead.
Responsible for attending meetings/reviews and reacting to any issues to best serve the customer.
Assist in the development of internal design guidelines.
Experience & Personal Attributes:
Associated Degree or minimum 5 years of experience mechanical design.
Experience of working in an Engineer Role and working on multiple projects at the same time.
Experience of pressure retaining components.
Fully conversant with Solidworks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge and understanding of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) - desirable.
Experience of ANSYS (desirable).
Able to deal proactively with senior discipline representatives in the co-ordination of work.
Excellent communication skills, the ability to present complex technical results in a clear and concise manner.
Good organisational skills with ability to manage time effectively between multiple technically demanding projects.
Flexibility in responding to critical deadlines.
Good verbal communication skills.
Good writing skills, with the ability to write technical reports and procedures for Clients.
Good attention to detail.
Strong communication skills are a must, both written and verbal.
Efficient, well organised, and able to communicate at all level, Desire to work as a team with a result driven approach.
