Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Industrial Automation Location: Office-Based (Winchcombe, Gloucestershire) Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE The Role: Permanent | Full-time | Monday-Thursday 08.00 to 17.00, Friday 08.00 to 14.00 *This role requires daily attendance at the company's site in Greet, Cheltenham. We’re working with a forward-thinking engineering business that designs and builds bespoke automation systems and special-purpose machinery. They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of customer projects from concept through to delivery.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering innovative automation solutions. You will manage projects end-to-end, ensuring designs are accurate, feasible, and meet client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop new and existing components/products for automation machinery Conceptualise and detail new automation solutions Produce site layouts and Bills of Materials (BoMs) for all designs Manage projects from conception, design, build, and delivery to ensure client satisfaction Liaise with customers and suppliers to understand requirements and provide solutions Ensure all designs meet high-quality standards and deadlines Collaborate with internal teamsAbout You:
Strong background in industrial automation and special-purpose machinery (bespoke machines, conveyors, complex sub-assemblies) Proficient in 3D CAD software, particularly Autodesk Inventor and/or Fusion 360 Knowledge of manufacturing industries and processes Experienced in project management and end-to-end project ownership Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail Self-starter with an inquisitive mind and ability to work autonomously Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years as CAD Draughtsman)Interested?
