Mechanical Design Engineer

We are currently seeking Mechanical Design Engineers for our client at Aldermaston.

They are seeking candidates with Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) experience. Candidates must have a background in HVAC design and maintenance within highly regulated environments.

This will be 3–4 days on–site per week and the rest from home.

End date: 6–12 months

Hours per week: AWE 9–day working pattern:

  1. 5 day week: Mon 8.25, Tues 8.25, Wed 8.25, Thur 8.25, Fri 8
  2. 4 day week: Mon 8.25, Tues 8.25, Wed 8.25, Thur 8.25, Fri 0

Charge Rate per hour: GBP60

There are 2 different AWE programmes for which candidates will be evaluated.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the safe decommissioning of facilities, systems, assets, and processes on nuclear sites. This role involves ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all mechanical systems, adhering to regulatory standards, and contributing to the smooth decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

Job Purpose: Provide designs for the Facility Design Authority (FDA) such that utilities, infrastructure, engineering processes, equipment and facilities are compliant with legislation, standards and requirements associated with engineering design throughout the facility lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities:

Essential: ONC/OND or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline.

Desirable: HNC/HND in relevant engineering discipline.

Skills: Working knowledge of legislation and standards applicable to engineering design

Experience: Experience of working in the Nuclear/High Hazard Industry
