Mechanical Design Engineer

A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing and dynamic team based in Birmingham.

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will take a leading role in the design of mechanical systems and components, supporting projects from concept through to production. Your responsibilities will include creating functional, cost-effective designs, delivering high-quality CAD models and technical drawings, and leading projects to meet timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design mechanical components, assemblies, and bespoke machinery
• Work across the full project lifecycle, from initial concept to final production
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and specifications
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and aligned with cost and quality standards
• Support production and prototype builds where necessary

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience in mechanical design
• Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor or similar)
• Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience with sheet metal, fabrication.
• A background in the machinery design industry.
• Understanding of design for manufacture and engineering best practices
