Location:

Peterborough, UK (Hybrid – 2 days remote working per week)

Salary & Benefits:

• £40,000 to £45,000 per annum
• 7.5% employer pension contribution
• 21 days annual leave + 8 public holidays
• Working hours (Monday–Thursday 08:30–16:45, Friday 08:30–15:00)

About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of mechanical design activities for complex machinery. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, ensuring designs meet technical specifications, budgets, and performance KPI’s

Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer role:

• Design new machinery using SolidWorks and CAD tools
• Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, parts lists, and bills of materials
• Review and approve colleagues’ designs via PDM and ERP systems
• Lead mechanical design efforts within multidisciplinary project teams
• Create and manage risk assessments and technical documentation
• Collaborate internationally with engineers from other disciplines
• Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders
• Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to process improvements

What We’re Looking for in the Ideal Mechanical Design Engineer:

• Proven experience in mechanical design engineering
• Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD design
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to travel occasionally as required
