Overview
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with proven experience in acoustic enclosures. The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical design expertise, a deep understanding of enclosure requirements, and the ability to translate concepts into detailed, accurate, and functional solutions. This role is fully remote, offering flexibility while collaborating closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development:
- Lead the design of acoustic enclosures, ensuring functionality, compliance, and durability.
- Develop and design other mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks and related CAD tools.
- Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings to meet client specifications.
- Perform calculations to support design decisions and industry standards.
- Prototyping and Testing:
- Support prototype development for acoustic enclosures and associated systems.
- Conduct simulations, acoustic analysis, and performance testing to validate designs.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and project teams to ensure seamless production.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on enclosure design to colleagues and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present design proposals, progress reports, and technical documentation.
- Project Management:
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to source specialist materials and components.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest practices in acoustic enclosure design and mechanical engineering.
- Recommend and implement process improvements based on lessons learned.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in mechanical design engineering, with specific experience in acoustic enclosures (essential).
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Experience developing and testing prototypes, with a focus on enclosure performance.
- Strong grasp of mechanical and acoustic engineering principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
- Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, Certified SolidWorks Professional) are an advantage
