Job Title: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer (Weekend or Night Shift)
Location: Herefordshire
Hours: Friday to Sunday, 05:45 – 18:15 or Sunday to Thursday, 21:45 – 06:15 (40 hours per week)
Salary: £43,046 per year plus weekly production bonus and overtime opportunities

About the Role

An experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is required to join the engineering team on the weekend shift. This role provides the opportunity to work with advanced machinery in a modern production environment that continues to invest in new equipment, facilities, and people. You will play a key part in maintaining plant reliability, carrying out repairs, and supporting continuous operations across a busy manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to mechanical breakdowns and perform reactive maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Support the reliability and efficiency of plant operations through timely mechanical interventions
  • Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, mechanical drive systems, and gearboxes
  • Carry out fabrication and welding tasks (MIG, MAG, MMA) as required
  • Collaborate with the wider maintenance team to ensure high operational standards
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with maintenance procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong background in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Practical experience with:
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Welding (MIG, MAG, MMA)
  • Mechanical fault-finding and breakdown repair
  • Completion of a recognised Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently during weekend shifts
  • Safety-conscious with good communication and teamwork skills

Requirements
At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role within the UK Experience in preparing quotations and providing technical support Good written and verbal communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Experience in the instrumentation or flow measurement industry is a plus Knowledge of process signals such as pulse, 4-20mA, Modbus, M-bus Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
