OverviewEQUANS are looking for a Mobile Mechanical Engineer working on behalf of our HMCTS contract at York Magistrates Court. This is a permanent full-time role, 40 hours per week. EQUANS is a Bouygues group company.Role summaryThe primary purpose of the role is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering plant, ensuring all activities are completed safely, on time, and in accordance with contracted outputs and EQUANS processes. This includes Legionella control/monitoring and basic plumbing skills.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine PPM on mechanical and electrical plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.Complete reactive tasks, identify areas for improvement, and maintain plant in serviceable order.Ensure suitable spares are available; provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.Complete relevant paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive, and breakdown works; pass to contract administrator promptly.Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for safe working practices.Develop good working relationships with EQUANS staff, subcontractors and client representatives.Maintain a safe and healthy working environment; wear uniform and PPE at all times.Keep plant room and logs up to date; ensure high professional image of EQUANS to clients.Supervise and monitor subcontractors on site; arrange holiday and sickness cover; be flexible with working patterns; lone working where required after training.Action assigned tasks and maintain awareness of contractual KPIs/SLAKeep CAFM up to date and ensure timely closure of PPM and reactive tickets with accurate dataOperate Permit to Work system in line with EQUANS SHEQ and client requirementsProvide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business continuityClient / CustomerRespond promptly to verbal and written requestsCoordinate quotations with the contract managerProduce information for quotationsHelpdesk - PPMSupport Helpdesk during reporting or updates of planned and reactive maintenanceBe available for out-of-hours call-out supportCompliance & SHEQGain Technical Appointments as required (LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical/Pressure CP)Produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports as requiredInform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occurComply with SHEQ information requests; follow health and safety policy; ensure PPE is safeReport accidents and near misses promptly; ensure equipment calibration stays up to dateFollow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all worksImpactCarry out Mechanical Engineering tasks; assist adherence to company quality standards and specifications; maintain and care for toolsWear appropriate clothing/uniform; keep work areas clean and tidy; manage company van per policyCoordinate materials; complete site documentation accurately and on timeCarry out works to high standard; work with others to provide courteous service; undertake reasonable management requestsManage adherence to Planned and Reactive tasks; manage subcontractors in line with H&S legislationWorking patternMon-Fri, 40 hours per week, with participation in the on-call rotaComplexityFault finding, minor repairs and installation alongside general maintenanceEnsure specialist subcontractor service visits are completed efficiently and quality checkedSupport engineers and operatives in the region; liaise with staff to carry out duties effectivelyAs Mechanical lead, participate in broader FM maintenance activities when requiredAssist in preparation of company reports, worksheets, and SLAsFollow safety policy and notify line manager of safety concernsDemonstrate excellent communication, ability to work unsupervised, and accurate paperwork skillsHelpdesk support available via smartphone; access to specialist tools and equipmentSafetyComply with SHEQ procedures; report risks, near misses, and incidents immediatelyRisk assess each job on site for safetyUse appropriate safety equipment and PPE; ensure public protection measures are followedBe responsible for your safety and othersNote: The above is a guideline and not an exhaustive list of duties.
