Job Overview

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Site Engineer to support the Hard FM operations at HMRC's flagship site at Pilgrim's Quarter, Newcastle upon Tyne

Working hours to cover core business hours of 07:00am - 18:00pm split across two 8hr shift patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with contractual requirements.
  • Maintain plant and equipment in accordance with O&M manuals, industry best practices, and relevant legislation.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), policies, and procedures.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests within agreed timeframes, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Work safely and professionally at all times, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Operate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment in plant rooms and service enclosures.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required during your shift.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with Helpdesk, Engineering Supervisor & Manager at all times.
  • Maintain equipment supported by sound diagnostic and problem solving skills, raising issues as required to the Engineering Supervisor & Helpdesk on a timely basis.
  • Health & Safety

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures, at all times.
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line Supervisor or Manager.
  • Take personal responsibility for Health & Safety matters.
  • Qualifications & Experience

    Essential

  • Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
  • City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent mechanical/electrical qualification.
  • Proven experience in mechanical/electrical and/or multi-disciplinary maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and deliver high-quality service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer awareness.
  • Competent IT skills, including use of a handheld device or tablet.
  • Desirable

  • Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or City & Guilds .
  • Willingness to develop skills in other areas of building services.
  • Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
  • You'll also need:

  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Eligibility for BPSS and SC security clearance.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • To succeed in this role, you'll demonstrate:

  • Technical expertise in Electrical/Mechanical systems and compliance.
  • Operational delivery of engineering services and documentation.
